About Taigh Leosaval

Taigh Leosaval is a beautifully restored former croft which sits at the foot of the hill after which it is named. It is in a completely secluded position among the North Harris hills, a short distance from the stunning Hushinish beach and with eagles, deer and sheep as your nearest neighbours.

The house is situated a couple of miles from Amhuinnsuidhe towards Hushinish and enjoys a totally private, secluded position with the wild hills behind, and looking towards the sea, the Isle of Taransay and the hills of South Harris. It is wonderful to be able to walk straight out of the back of the house up into the hills where you can roam for miles with only deer and eagles for company. The views from the hill behind the house are spectacular and on a clear day the dramatic shape of St Kilda can be seen rising from the sea.

There are four bedrooms - two doubles, a twin and a single. It is lovely just for one or two people or for up to seven.

There is an entrance porch for outdoor clothing. The kitchen diner has a lovely range cooker with gas top and electric oven, a large Smeg fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and toaster. You'll find all the usual pots, pans and equipment, and a separate utility area with a washer dryer. All towels and 100% cotton bed linen are provided.

The living room has 3 sofas, an open fireplace, bluetooth music player, lots of books and games, and a TV and DVD player with a large selection of films. You'll find plenty of coal in the shed. Mobile phone coverage can be patchy but there's a landline with an honesty box, and the house has excellent free WiFi.

There's plenty of parking, and a small front garden with a bench to enjoy the view.

Sorry, no pets.

BY AIR

There are flights to Stornoway from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness. Hiring a car at the airport is easy with Car Hire Hebrides. Then it's a beautiful drive of an hour or so across Lewis to Harris.

BY CAR AND FERRY

Car Ferries are operated by Caledonian MacBrayne and operate from Ullapool to Stornoway or from Uig (Skye) to Tarbert. It's important to book these in advance especially in the school holidays. The Uig - Tarbert route is great for reaching Taigh Leosaval which is only twelve miles from Tarbert. If you cross as a foot passenger, cars can be hired in Stornoway or Tarbert.
