Isle of Harris Self Catering Holiday Cottage
Leosaval nestles at the foot of the lovely North Harris hill that gives it it's name.
I first came to Amhuinnsuidhe ten years ago and fell in love with this corner of the island. The house is situated half a mile out of the village towards Husinis and enjoys a totally private, secluded position with the wild hills behind and looking towards the sea and the Isle of Taransay. It is wonderful to be able to walk straight out of the back of the house up in to the hills where you can roam for miles with only deer and eagles for company. The views from the top of our hill are spectacular and on a clear day the dramatic shape of St Kilda can be seen rising out of the sea.
Half a mile across the moorland in front of us is the sea and there is a fabulous secret tidal lagoon to visit where no one else ever goes.
We are on a tiny road which winds along the peninsula to the end of the road at Husinis. There is a beautiful beach there (recently voted "Best Beach in Britain" by a national newspaper). The views across to The isle of Scarp and beyond are indescribably beautiful, and there is another white sandy beach that can only be reached by a footpath up and over the hill, about an hour's walk.
Leosaval is the perfect place to find peace and to see amazing wildlife. We often see eagles from the kitchen over breakfast! It's a cosy comfortable house and we have enjoyed using the local tweed to make curtains, as well as displaying artwork from the very creative artists who live here.
We hope you come and visit our home and discover for yourselves the delights that Harris has to offer.
